Art Stories: MiYoung Margolis

As you may have heard, “Art Stories” is an exciting new blog post series we’re launching this month. Our aim is to partner with local artists and inspire the art community. We’re delighted to feature MiYoung Margolis as our first artist for September.

MiYoung Margolis is a multimedia artist, designer, and international model. Her artwork presents a unique mosaic of texture and color that embodies the complexity of female emotions. The inspiration behind her paintings, Marc Chagall, influenced the bold colors and range of human emotion visible in every brush stroke. The “Jane Collection,” which draws its inspiration from the Victorian classic Jane Eyre, is a beautiful portrayal of the pure, emotional rawness of the human experience. This series of canvas paintings embody a female form at the climax of emotional and physical fatigue. Some may see this “breaking point” as the aftermath of meeting the demands of a hectic schedule or perhaps navigating a tense relationship. This collection’s sincere vulnerability allows the viewer to relate and discover their own breaking point within the portrait. The Beautiful Jane, Dancer from the Jane Collection earned Margolis a spot as a semi-finalist in the Bombay Artisan 2016 national competition.

As well as fine art, Margolis has successfully launched her own fashion design brand, Aphrodite. This stunning collection of wearable fairy-tale inspired art emphasizes the power of female emotion, all while symbolizing love, beauty, and fertility. It was nominated for Up and Coming Designer by Seattle Style Night 2016.

Margolis has two upcoming art shows (see following dates and locations below). You can also visit her art gallery in Seattle called Prince and Fox.
