Art Stories: Kristi Johnson

Our next featured artist has a gift for photography and connecting with the natural world. A true animal lover, Kristi Johnson magically captures fantastic creatures of all shapes and sizes. She specializes in equine and longhorn photography, but portrays any living, breathing critter on her ranch located in the heart of Texas.

Kristi Johnson has been in the photography industry for over 20 years now. After studying black and white photography at Rice University in Houston, Johnson dived into hands-on projects such as shooting for various musical bands. Over time her love for animals has become the focal point of her work, and has developed a unique eye for capturing an animal’s wild spirit and beauty. Johnson’s photography combines a deep passion for animals and the rustic charm of Texan landscapes. She draws inspiration from her beloved horses, donkeys, and longhorns while spending time outdoors on her ranch.

Volunteering with animal rescue organizations is another one of Johnson’s passions. She has worked with the American Wild Horse Campaign, Military Working Dog Adoptions and several local dog shelters. Her dedication to animal care and protection, while masterfully capturing their characters in her work, is truly inspiring.

Johnson’s artwork is currently on display at the Weiler House Fine Art Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas. She has an upcoming show in Los Angeles spring of 2018 (dates to be announced).  Please visit her website for more details.
